Scholarly Journals: How Can You Tell?

Is it scholarly? Use the clues!

Articles in scholarly, academic journals go through a review process before publication. Before an article is published, the manuscript is sent out to editors or reviewers, experts in the field, who review it for quality. It is this peer-review process that guarantees the information is reliable, accurate, and authoritative.

Subject-Specific Databases

Searching almost all of the Libraries' databases will give you a series of results that will allow you access to the full-text of the articles that you find. You can also print the articles or email them to yourself.

Below is a link to all Kinesiology-specific databases which can help you focus your search results. Your search will probably result in hundreds of articles so remember that you will need to narrow your topic. Each database has its own method for doing this so look carefully.

CQ Researcher

CQ Researcher contains single-themed, in-depth reports on controversial issues including introductory overview, background, current situation, pro and con statements, and bibliography. Kinesiology Journals
