KANSAS SPEAKS

For the last six years, the Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University has conducted an annual statewide public opinion survey we call Kansas Speaks.  The questions include ratings of elected officials and opinions on salient political and social issues.

USING STATISTICS

Used in conjunction with scholarly journal research, statistics are a key in any successful political science research project.

Certainly one component to a fine paper is to evaluate sources carefully.  Use peer reviewed journal articles, and check the sources of your statistics.  Follow the guidelines of your instructor in setting out your research project, take careful accurate notes, and site your data and articles correctly.

If you have listened in class, followed instructions, taken careful notes, and cited correctly, you have gone a long way to having completed a successful research project.
