Library Classes FAQ

What is taught in a Library Instruction Session?

Library Instruction at Washburn University is driven by the information literacy competencies of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Library Instruction sessions are a cooperative venture between the teaching and the Library faculty. We will teach students at any level the research skills necessary for their programs. Librarians will work with teaching faculty to customize each Library Instruction session for the needs of a particular assignment or paper. The sessions are designed in a variety of formats and styles to accommodate the library research needs of each class.

Where are Library Classes taught?

Library Instruction sessions can be given in Mabee Library's Electronic Classroom or in any mediated classroom. Instructors teaching online classes can invite the librarian to join their online activities as well.

How long are Library Instruction sessions?

Most are about one hour, but more intense research courses can sometimes necessitate multiple instruction sessions.
