Library Instruction Request

A librarian from the Mabee Library Instruction Team will be assigned to your session.  You can customize this session to highlight any type of library research including online databases, Google and other search engines, using the online catalog, citing sources, and many more.  Sessions are usually taught in the Mabee Library Electronic Classroom.

What is taught in a Library Instruction Session?

Library Instruction at Washburn University is driven by the information literacy framework of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Library Instruction sessions are a cooperative venture between the teaching and the Library faculty. We will teach students at any level the research skills necessary for their programs. Librarians will work with teaching faculty to customize each Library Instruction session for the needs of a particular assignment or paper. The sessions are designed in a variety of formats and styles to accommodate the library research needs of each class.

Where are Library Classes taught?

Library Instruction sessions can be given in Mabee Library's Information Literacy Classrooms or in any mediated classroom. Instructors teaching online classes can invite the librarian to join their online activities as well.

How long are Library Instruction sessions?

Most are about one hour, but more intense research courses can sometimes necessitate multiple instruction sessions.
