Ask the Librarian

The Reference Librarian will be glad to help you pick a good topic.  The Librarian can suggest general encyclopedias or subject specific reference books which can help point you to a topic that is easy to develop.

CQ Researcher

CQResearcher provides in-depth, up-to-date background information on the most current and controversial social issues of today. This resource may also help you formulate a thesis statement for your research paper.

Google Tricks

Google can help you find a topic.  But by typing a topic in the Google search box, you will get millions of hits.  Try this instead:  Type "choosing a topic" (including quotation marks) in the Google search box.  This will give you a list of Web sites for developing a topic.
