The Family and Human Services Department offers programs leading to certificate and degrees (Associate and Bachelor of Applied Studies) in to assist students "to attain the attitudes, skills and knowledge to become effective, ethical and compassionate human service professionals who engage in creative approaches to meet diverse individual, community and societal needs." Areas of program concentration are: addiction counseling, developmental disabilities, gerontology/aging, mental health, youth services and victim/survivor services.
The University Libraries support the study, teaching and research mission of the Department by collecting materials in a variety of formats concerning the human, theoretical and technical aspects of the various branches of human services as well as other related interdisciplinary areas.
The collections of the University Libraries currently contain over 3,000 books, dozens of videos/DVDs as well as approximately 200 print and online journal/magazine titles that deal with the field. These collections are constantly being expanded as new resources are identified.
