Vision and Plan

Washburn in the Community, Washburn in the World: Vision & Plan for Future Development of Washburn's Academic Programs

Project SAILS

Now a nationally known assessment tool, Project SAILS was created in 2001 as a standardized test of information literacy skills.  As one of the most well-known and widely-used tests, Project SAILS provides more information than a simple pre- and post-test in a class.  When used university-wide, we will be able to measure the Student Learning Outcome Information Literacy.

Project SAILS, or Standarized Assessment of Information Literacy Skills, is the premiere evaluation tool for information literacy skills.  Assessment is based on the ACRL Information Literacy Framework.  Using SAILS will allow us to compare Washburn's results to like institutions, increasing accuracy in assessments evaluation.
