Ashley Maxwell [Faculty Profile]

Lecturer, Anthropology

Sociology/Anthropology

Course Adapted:

I adapted my AN118 Introduction to Forensic Science asynchronous online course. I used PDF readings, websites, and labs from Merlot, government grant-funded resources, and YouTube.

Student Impact:

I gave my students a survey after the course, and many expressed that the OER version of the class saved them money and that the information was better than reading long chapters in a book. They found the materials to be extremely helpful for learning the material and having it align with the assignments.

The Future:

I am working on modifying the original course I converted to OER, AN112 Cultural Anthropology, to see if there are more succinct readings for the students.
