Sr. Lecturer, English

English

OER Adopted: Writing Commons

OER Adopted:

I teach both required English courses at Washburn, EN101 First-Year Writing and EN300 Advanced College Writing, and adapted zero-cost OER for them. I also adapted zero-cost OER in EN190/390 Film Appreciation. Two websites I enjoy using are: https://writingcommons.org/ https://writing.colostate.edu/guides/guide.cfm?guideid=58

Student Impact:

I have had more success with assignments. I wonder if the instant access to reading a textbook versus having a physical copy helps.

The Future:

I am looking at the possibility for creative writing courses. A friend of mine who teaches at Emporia is currently writing an OER for poetry writing. I'm looking forward to the possibility of using it when I facilitate Beginning Poetry Writing.
